School Superintendents of Alabama

SSA Membership

Supporting Alabama’s superintendents and school system leadership teams.

District Membership

SSA membership is organized through school district membership. The superintendent serves as the voting member for the district and may designate up to four additional district leaders for SSA membership.

Who May Be an SSA Member

Superintendents

State, county, and city superintendents.

District Administrators

Administrators in city and county school systems serving in associate or assistant superintendent roles.

Education Officers

State and local officers of educational administration.

College and University Leaders

Heads of teacher-training institutions and colleges of education.

Education Faculty

Heads of departments or colleges of education and professors of school administration or supervision.

Retired Education Leaders

Retired supervisors and administrators may join as honorary members but may not vote or hold office.

Voting Membership

The district superintendent is the official voting member for the school district. Additional district leaders designated through the district membership receive SSA membership benefits but do not replace the superintendent as the district’s voting representative.
